The non-profit organization Working in Support of Education has recognized H. Frank Carey as a Blue Star School for the 2015-16 academic year.
Students in career and financial management classes completed a rigorous financial literacy curriculum that culminated in an exam offered through the organization that assists students develop financial literacy and readiness for college and career success. A student who successfully passes the exam is awarded a certificate indicating that he or she has met current national standards for knowledge of personal finance. H. Frank Carey is proud to announce that close to 90 students received their National Financial Literacy certification during the last school year.
In order to receive this Blue Star School distinction, a school must test more than 10 students, must achieve an 80 percent passing rate on the exam and have either a majority of students in a given grade level take the test or have students who take it achieve an average score of 85 percent or higher.
In addition to receiving the Blue Star School distinction, Jennifer Lehmann, chairperson of business, was a recipient of the w!se Gold Star Teacher Award, which is given to teachers who have at least 93 percent of their students pass the certification exam.
