H. Frank Carey Graduate Receives an Emmy

ghgfjgjfghThe H. Frank Carey Art Department is pleased to recognize the great success of Class of 2000 alumnus Anthony Miale.

At the recent Creative Arts Emmys ceremony, Miale won an individual Emmy for Outstanding Picture Editing for Variety Programming for his work on “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.” Additionally, at the primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” won for Best Variety Talk Series.

Miale graduated from Hofstra University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in film production. After college, he moved to Brooklyn and began producing online comedy videos and performing live shows with his sketch group, Serious Lunch. Working a day job editing corporate videos and sizzle reels, he spent his free time performing and collaborating with other comedians and artists. Miale transitioned into television when he was hired on “Nikki & Sara Live” on MTV, followed by Dave Attell’s “Comedy Underground” on Comedy Central. He started working on HBO’s “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” in 2014 and has been with the show since its premiere. This was his first Emmy nomination and win. We proudly congratulate Anthony on all of his many achievements.
