This year’s second March Senior of the Month is a caring, sympathetic, gifted and strong individual who has a clear sense of direction and determination. This extremely intelligent student has always held her academics in very high esteem, which would explain her number three rank in a competitive senior class. Her strong work ethic and academic achievements are evident as she has been inducted into the National, Tri-M, Math and Science Honor Societies. Additionally, this senior is fluent in Polish and also made the choice to learn an additional language and is now proficient in Italian. She is a role model and leader in the classroom, and also is a talented musician. In the Carey Orchestra, she is the Principal Cellist and has been a featured soloist for the Senior High and Chamber Orchestras for the past three years. She has also been a participant at NYSSMA, the Sewanhaka District Music Festival and the Long Island String Festival. Let’s congratulate this amazing senior, Zofia Gornicz with March’s Senior of the Month
March’s Senior of the Month is kind, honest and a self-described perfectionist. Academically, he is one of the best of the best in his senior class and has also emerged as an enthusiastic and effective leader in our school building. He currently holds the titles of Vice President of the National Honor Society and the Model United Nations as well as Secretary to the Foreign Language Honor Society. He is also an active member in the Spanish Leadership Club and the Science and Math Honor Societies. This scholar-athlete has been a talented player on the Varsity Football and Varsity Winter and Spring Track teams. He takes time to do private tutoring and works for a catering company. As if this was not enough, he is also a center referee for the U10 soccer games at Sewanhaka High School during the spring and fall seasons. Next year, this dynamic young man is expected to grace the halls at Schreyer Honors College at Penn State, one of the nation’s best honors colleges. This curious and motivated student will pursue a degree in civil engineering and foster his interest in our global world. It is our honor to recognize Thomas Torquato with March’s Senior of the Month.
